Belfast Poetry Festival October 16-19, 2025

2025 Keynote Poet - Ellen Bass

The Belfast Poetry Festival keynote presenter this year is nationally recognized poet Ellen Bass. An afternoon craft talk and evening reading on Saturday, October 18, 2025 are planned.

   Maine Postmark Poetry Contest

To enter, submit one poem of up to two (2) total pages in length, accompanied by a $5 reading fee, by August 15.

Wheelbarrow Poets

The Wheelbarrow Poets meets weekly on Tuesdays in the Belfast Free Library Abbott Room from 9:30-11:00 a.m. Writing prompts are sent in advance of the gatherings by Belfast Poet Laureate Maya Stein, and participants share work and discuss. Open to writers ages 18 & up. For more information and to register, please email hello@mayastein.com. Maya Stein is the current poet laureate of Belfast.

Freeport Folio, a new community poetry initiative, is proud to announce the return of its quarterly open mic poetry series. Events take place at Freeport Community Services Inc, 53 Depot St. Freeport Maine.

This twice‑a‑month poetry group meets on the first and third Thursdays of each month at 4 p.m. in the Marine Room at Rockport Public Library.

Rockport Public Library Poets’ Corner and Thomaston Public Library Poets’ Corner sponsor this Midcoast Poetry Calendar website and the Midcoast Poetry Journal project now calling for submissions for Midcoast Poetry Journal 2025 Volume 2.
