The Midcoast Maine Poetry Calendar was created to help connect Midcoast Maine poets, poetry groups and poetry organizations, and to help poets plan and promote public poetry events.
Midcoast Poetry Calendar is a Maine Public Benefit Corporation with 501(c)(3) status from the I.R.S. The Poetry Calendar is sponsored and staffed by poet volunteers who are members of and and by the time and support of other Midcoast Maine poets.
The Calendar is a free service created for everyone in the poetry community and all are welcome to about recurring and special poetry events planned by poets, poetry groups, and poetry organizations in Midcoast Maine.

Midcoast Poetry Calendar
This is version 2 of the Midcoast Poetry Calendar. It was created using third party software – – to support formatting and embedding a live calendar on a website page. Whenever an item is added or edited in the Google calendar connected to the Google Workspace business account for MidcoastPoetryCalendar.com, it is automatically updated on the Midcoast Poetry Calendar web page.
And that’s pretty convenient!
But in Midcoast Poetry Calendar version 1, created using Google Calendar’s embed tools and some tweaks found online, viewing the calendar on a phone in any browser other than Google’s Chrome resulted in inconveniences, some outright failures, and maddening Google Calendar sales pitches when trying to access details about an event. So that version needed to be replaced asap.
Fortunally, configuring the calendar using the Styled Calendar tool, which generates responsive CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) code, and adding their responsive Javascript code seem to have solved the “other browser” problems that were especially troublesome on phones in portrait mode trying to see event details. And the calendar details and colors configured with Styled Calendar match the colors and styles used for the Midcoast Poetry Calendar website. Websites are (or can be) art and being able to extend that art to the calendar is a blessing.
We hope that you will have no trouble with the Midcoast Poetry Calendar. But if you do encounter problems seeing details for an event in a phone browser, one solution is to turn your phone 90° and view the calendar in landscape mode. read less
